When the Kentucky Community & Technical College System determined a need for additional space for its administrative offices, the organization decided to utilize an existing 130,000 square foot abandoned factory, formerly inhabited by Texas Instruments. This adaptive reuse provided EOP Architects with the exciting challenge of transforming a manufacturing plant into a stimulating, functional work environment for the KCTCS administrative staff. The now-completed initial phase required the renovation of 70,000 square feet of industrial space into an open office landscape environment. The design incorporated an abundance of natural lighting and efficient technologies such as under-floor access systems. The remainder of the building has been reserved for office and conference center expansion.
