A landmark event for Kentucky, the 2010 Allech FEI World Equestrian Games will be attended by 500,000-700,000 people from 60+ nations. This event marks the first time the Games have been hosted outside of Europe and is generally referred as the “Olympics for the horse industry.” One of the challenges included designing a 40,000 seat arena for the World Equestrian Games that also had to function as a 6,000 seat all-weather arena for ongoing legacy events after the Games. Each year the Kentucky Horse Parks hosts between 250-300 events. The project team included Ewing Cole as the stadium architectural consultant.
